El Cortijo was restored in 2010 following the principles of bio-climatic architecture and using environmentally friendly materials. The hot water and underfloor heating are powered by solar panels. The water from the shower is purified and used to irrigate the garden.

Our cortijo is located in a very central area of the Natural Park, we are at these distances by car from the coast’s villages: Las Negras and Rodalquilar 15 minutes; San José, Agua Amarga, Isleta del Moro and Cabo de Gata 25 minutes away.

The closest unspoiled beach is the Playazo de Rodalquilar, 20 minutes away, the others are in a radius of 25-35 minutes (the Cabo de Gata Lighthouse is the farthest point).

Fernán Pérez is 4km away, it is a small town where there is a bar-restaurant with delicious tapas and a food store. Campohermoso is 15 minutes away, there you can find Lidl and Mercadona supermarkets, pharmacy, health center, ATM, etc.

Our house is an isolated country house in the middle of the Hornillo valley, from here you can take very beautiful walks or bike rides. We are next to the Cortijo del Fraile (3km) and the old gold mines of Rodalquilar (5km).
